How We Support Your Business
Our all-inclusive service structure means we can help with everything from product development to packaging.
We support small-batch manufacturing with low minimum order quantities (MOQs) from initial samples to as little as 5 per style in production. You can select any one or a combination of our services.
We offer a free 30-minute consultation in person or by phone. The goal of this meeting is to answer your questions and make sure Sew Studio is a good fit for your needs.
Additional consulting services are available to work out product details, material choices, design choices, and more. Let us know what you need and we’re happy to schedule more time with you.
For individuals or companies that need help with products or operations, here are some of the things we can help with:
- Product strategy
- Market selection
- Price-point selection
- Identifying challenges and opportunities
- Improving operations
Before you plan your project or start marketing, you need a business plan that includes information about your sizing. This is a crucial area that’s often overlooked. Errors made in the production process can cost your company thousands of dollars. Whether you use us or or another apparel manufacturer, make sure your sizing is right before you order a pattern or sample, or place a manufacturing order.
Your size chart standardization should align with your product placement in the market, brand, and target market. There are other factors to consider, too, but those are a good base. As a general rule, your apparel should range across an average of 5 sizes.
If you serve different markets, such as men’s and women’s apparel, you need sizing for both. Sizes need to have exact measurements (bust/waist/hip/height, etc.) even if you plan to sell your product with small/medium/large labels. It is unethical for any pattern maker or manufacturer to take your money if you haven’t made your sizing explicitly clear. If you’re not sure how to size your brand, we can set up size standardization for a flat fee.
We can help you design a single product or full collection. Our experienced designers are here to address your concerns or fill the gaps if you decide you need extra guidance. Each product faces unique challenges and learning how to fit into your market is essential for success. Size and fit, design versus cost, product placement and market alignment are some examples of where our expertise can help.
We have years of experience working with large- and small-quantity orders and can often help you locate or understand your sourcing needs. Understanding your ordering needs per project will help you source faster, budget more efficiently, and streamline this task. Due to the cost-effectiveness for small and midsize companies, we don’t source for you. However, we have books, swatches, and other reference material to support your sourcing needs. We’re also happy to share our contacts, connections and knowledge.
We believe in ethical pattern-making services, and we understand that not everyone is an expert. When you order a pattern, we’ll help you make the best decisions for your product-to-market fit and stay in touch throughout the process. If we see an issue, we’ll notify you right away to prevent errors later in production.
Sew Studio will create a pattern from your concept or use one you’ve already established. Once your design is ready for production, we use Accumark® software from Gerber Technology to create a CAD pattern that can be used at nearly every manufacturing facility across the globe. This gives you the flexibility to manufacture with us or move to a larger facility as you grow.
If you used CAD software with another company, you may be able to have your files transferred to us for production.
The grade is the measurement difference between sizes and can vary based on your product line. Common grades are variable, 1" and 2". Pattern grading is the process of applying the selected grade to your design.
We can grade based on your specifications or, if you don’t have this standardization set up, guide you through the process. Your grade may need to be re-evaluated throughout product development, since many design elements can impact grade decisions.
Our goal is to help you get your products produced ethically at a cost-effective price. We offer full-service production and can help early on for sampling, or later, when your product is ready. Low MOQs allow greater flexibility for emerging designers and start-up brands. We can accommodate orders of 5 to 300 pieces.
Our cut and sew services are available for a range of materials and order sizes. We have up to 2,000 square feet available for manufacturing.
